Production
Ursus Parvus is an Icelandic production company founded in 2015 by producer Hlin Johannesdottir and rooted in her long career of film- and documentary production in Iceland. Through Ursus Parvus and her previous posts, Hlín has focused on producing films based on well known literary work as well as original scripts in collaboration with established directors and writers, such as Fridrik Thor Fridriksson, Dagur Kári, Andri Snær Magnason, (the late) Solveig Anspach, Runar Runarsson and Hilmar Oddson. In Ursus Parvus productions she has placed emphasis on gender balance and female empowerment on and off set, and produced the first feature-length films of young, dynamic female directors Tinna Hrafnsdóttir (Quake) and Ása Helga Hjörleifsdóttir (The Swan).

Producer
Producer Hlin Johannesdottir studied anthropology and media before turning her focus to filmmaking 20+ years ago. Her career spans over 30 films as producer and co-producer, in addition to various others as line producer and associate producer. Prior to founding Ursus Parvus she was a producer and partner at Vintage Pictures and Zik Zak Filmworks.
Her co-production portfolio includes work with production companies from Canada, Denmark, Scotland, The United States, Latvia, Germany, France and Switzerland.

Through her years as Head of the Department of Production at the Icelandic Film School and through Ursus Parvus and other production posts, Hlin has dedicated a significant part of her work to developing new talent for Iceland’s film industry. She is currently the President of the Icelandic Film & Television Academy and sits on the board of the Association of Producers in Iceland.
Alongside her work in films, Hlín has produced and co-produced large multi-country cultural and media productions in Greenland and the Nordic-Arctic and is with producer & editor-in-chief Vilborg Einarsdottir and manager Auður Elisabet Johannsdottir, a co-founder, co-owner, and the Head of Production at JONAA, Journal of the North Atlantic & Arctic.
